The Department of Innovative Learning partnered with the School Transformation Office to support high need schools and strengthen instructional outcomes through targeted technology integration and professional learning. I coordinated the operational and instructional components of this work and ensured that our support was aligned with STO priorities and school level needs.
I scheduled and facilitated the initial meetings with STO directors, during which the participating schools were selected for the initiative. After the schools were identified, I organized meetings between my Instructional Technology Facilitators and the administrative teams at their assigned campuses. This established clear expectations, communication structures, and support plans for the year.
Once the work began, my ITFs met regularly with their assigned schools and provided targeted Reading Progress fluency support every Tuesday and Wednesday. They modeled effective practices, coached teachers, and helped staff use data to guide instruction. I monitored the data they collected and updated progress reports every two weeks so school leadership, STO directors, and the regional superintendent had a clear view of growth trends and instructional needs. This consistent reporting ensured transparency, alignment, and timely adjustments to support.
During the 2024–2025 school year, our department provided six weeks of intensive support and saw significant progress in a short period of time. Based on those results, the partnership expanded in the 2025–2026 school year. We began working with schools in September and continued through May to provide sustained coaching and instructional support. The results for the 2025–2026 school year have not yet been released, as high stakes testing data is published during the summer.
The measurable outcomes from the 2024–2025 school year demonstrated the impact of this work. Four of the five participating schools were removed from the state intervention list, including one school that improved from a C to an A.
These results highlighted the effectiveness of targeted professional learning, consistent coaching, and strategic use of instructional technology in improving student achievement.
Through this initiative, I strengthened school level capacity, supported sustainable instructional practices, and helped leaders and teachers use technology as a tool for academic recovery and long term success.
