I was tasked by our Chief Academic Officer to to develop four Canvas courses aligned to the Florida ICP Framework for Elementary, Middle, High School, and Centers programs within Broward County Public Schools. During an accelerated timeline, I designed and customized each course to reflect the district’s instructional priorities, ensuring consistency in structure, style, and expectations across all grade bands.
As my colleague and I refined the courses, we identified opportunities to strengthen the learning sequence. We restructured the prerequisites to guide participants through the modules in a purposeful, scaffolded order and created targeted assignments that prompted educators to reflect on the intent and impact of the coursework.
These enhancements were adopted district‑wide, resulting in a more coherent, user‑friendly professional learning experience for all participating schools.
Each section of the course included a draft proposal outlining a specific component of the district’s plan. Participants were expected to review the draft materials and provide targeted feedback on each element. This structure enabled the district to gather meaningful stakeholder input at scale and refine the plan to better reflect the needs and perspectives of educators across Broward County Public Schools.
